A Starting Place Whether you need training to jump-start a great career or want to complete your first two years of college before transferring to a university, you can find your future t All Starts Associate of Arts (AA) The Associate of Arts is the most appropriate degree for the majority of transfer students because it parallels the work required in the first two years of a baccalaureate degree at a four-year institution. The AA degree is awarded to students completing the requirements of the academic program with a minimum of 62 credit hours, including 42 hours of general education. Associate of Arts in Teaching (AAT) The Associate of Arts in Teaching degree is awarded to students seeking the first component of a degree in teacher education. Students complete a core of general education courses as well as electives from their major area of study. The AAT is transferable, but students should also work with their transfer institution for additional requirements. Will it Transfer? Many of our general education courses have a MOTR number, guaranteeing that those credits will transfer seamlessly to all public and participating independent colleges and universities in the state! Brittni Bader Associate of Arts, ‘22 Prepare for a Career Associate of Science (AS) The Associate of Science degree is awarded to students who successfully complete the requirements of the health career programs. Associate of Applied Science (AAS) The Associate of Applied Science degree is designed primarily for the student who wants to seek employment immediately after completing the two-year program. Degree options are listed to the right and are marked with a “D”. Certificates Certificate programs require one year or less of instruction and are designed to give the technical knowledge, manual skills, and general background necessary for achievement in technical and semi- professional employment. Short-Term Training Whether you’re looking to make a career change, improve your chances for employment, or acquire an industry- recognized credential, our short-term training programs will help you get started in no time! Most programs involve classroom learning with a mix of hands-on training, and some even offer college credit. Funding is available for students who qualify. In some cases, the tuition may be waived if you are unemployed or underemployed. Our program staff will work with you to create an individual plan to help you reach your goals and start a new career.
