Paying for College The MAC Financial Aid office handles federal, state, institutional, and outside sources of financial aid, including: •Grants—Gift assistance based on financial need (like Pell Grant and FSEOG). •Loans—This type of aid (like Direct Loans)is usually low-interest and must be repaid. •Employment—Help pay for school by working part-time on campus. •Scholarships—MAC offers a wide variety of scholarships based on need, merit, or other criteria. Go to dhewd.mo.gov/ppc for more information. Getting Started Most forms of financial aid require students to submit a FAFSA—the Free Application for Federal Student Aid—every year. Just go to fafsa.gov to start the process. MAC’s school code is 002486. Visit mineralarea.edu/aplus for more information. Using Your A+ Scholarship Meet the requirements of the A+ Program? All your hard work is about to pay off! After you apply to MAC and complete your FAFSA, be sure to also cover these important steps to use your scholarship funds: 1.Transcript with Seal—Have your final high school transcript sent to MAC with the official A+ seal attached to it. 2.Activation Form—Sign in to your MyMAC account and complete an A+ Activation Form every semester you study here. 3.Award Letter—After we have all the information we need, you’ll get an A+ award letter by email. From there, you can register for classes. Start Here 1.Apply to MAC F Fill out the free application at mineralarea.edu. 2.Send Transcripts F Submit your transcripts—both from your high school and any college(s) you have attended. 3.Send Test Scores F Submit your ACT or ACCUPLACER scores. To schedule the ACCUPLACER test, contact our Assessment Office at (573) 518-2202 or assessment@MineralArea.edu. 4.Apply for Aid F Go to fafsa.gov and complete the FAFSA application. Use MAC's school code: 002486. Priority deadline is April 1. F Submit the online MAC Scholarship application. Priority deadline is February 1. F If you’re participating in the A+ program, be sure to complete your A+ activation form each semester through your MyMAC account. 5.Apply for Housing F If you plan to live in College Park housing, go to mineralarea.edu, click on College Park under the Future Students tab, and ill out the online housing application under College Park Forms. 6.Register for Classes F Once accepted to MAC, you’ll be invited to watch an orientation video.
